The summer of 2025 in Mar del Plata attracted more tourists compared to previous years, but caution in spending was a constant among visitors. Many chose to carefully select where and what to spend their money on, and so far, few report having had better economic performance than last season.
The beach resorts experienced diverse results, greatly influenced by the established prices and services offered. Some stood out for providing an expensive and unsatisfactory experience for tourists, going as far as setting an average of between 90,000 and 100,000 pesos for a tent in Mar del Plata.
In this context, Beach Resort 12 highlighted its high occupancy during January. Augusto Digiovanni, the owner of this traditional spot in Punta Mogotes, attributed this success to a combination of quality services, personalized attention, and stable prices from October of the previous year until the end of the season.
In contrast to the high costs of other resorts, where a tent with a pool and limited services for children can cost up to 130,000 pesos, at Beach Resort 12 the daily rate is 50,000 pesos. Digiovanni stated that his goal is to keep the beach busy in February, through a quality gastronomic proposal at accessible prices and a friendly approach to visitors.
The businessman expressed optimism regarding expectations for February, backed by a high level of inquiries and confirmed and paid reservations so far. He also noted that favorable weather conditions have contributed to the continuity of beach activities.
The uncertainty surrounding the carnival weekend keeps stakeholders related to tourism in Mar del Plata and the Atlantic coast of Buenos Aires on edge. They request that the Government of the City of Buenos Aires postpone the start of classes, considering that this weekend represents a crucial opportunity for the local tourism industry.
Augusto Digiovanni emphasized the importance of extending school holidays until after the carnival to maximize tourist influx and ensure job continuity for all employees throughout the summer season.
